좀비 벌과 기생파리가 영화(연가시)처럼 사람에게도 직접 영향이 주지는 않습니다

최근에 미국에서 좀비벌의 습격으로 언론에서 경고를 하고 있습니다

좀비는 영화의 소재로 많이 알려져 있습니다

좀비 영화에서는 죽은 사람이 초자연적인 현상에 의하여 되살아나서 물론 비정상적인 특성을 지니고 또다른 사람을 공격하는 모습을 보여 줍니다

 

좀비벌의 경우 정상적인 벌이 갑자기  비정상적인 행동을 보여 준다고 하여 이렇한 별명을 붙여 준거 같네요..

좀비벌의 원인은 기생파리라고 하는 벌레로 인한 것이라고 합니다

기생파리는 다른 벌레의 몸에 알을 낳아 번식하는 습성을 갖고 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며

이번에 문제가 된 것은 바로 이 기생파리가 꿀벌의 몸에 알을 낳아 꿀벌을 숙주로 삼음으로서 숙주인 꿀벌을 죽게 하고 죽기전까지 신경계에 이상이 생긴 꿀벌은 잘 날지 못하고 땅으로 갑자기 곤두박질을 하거나 비정상적인 행동 형태를 보이다 결국은 죽음에 이르게 한다고 합니다.

미국 캘리포니아주에서 2008년도 발견된 이래 최근에는 미국 북동부의 대부분 지역으로 확산되어 있다고 합니다

꿀벌은 사실 인류와 자연에 상당한 유익을 주는 곤충으로 알려져 있습니다

벌꿀 뿐만이 아니라 각각의 꽃으로 돌아다니며 식물들의  수정을 도와 주는 곤충으로 생태계에서 매우 중요한 곤충으로 알려져 있지요.

최근  그렇지 않아도 환경오염으로 인한 꿀벌의 감소에 많은 이들이 걱정을 하고 있는데 이번 기생파리의 확산 소식에 더욱 걱정이 됩니다.

꿀벌에 기생하는 기생파리의 습성은 한국영화 중에 화제를 낳게 했던 "연가시"라는 영화를 기억 나게 하였습니다

연가시는 사람의 몸에 기생하며 인간의 뇌를 조정하여 물속에 뛰어 들어 죽게 한다는 내용이었습니다

그러나 실제로 연가시가 사람의 몸에 기생 하지는 않는다고 하더군요

물론  기생파리도 연가시가 사람의 몸에 기생하지 못하는 것처럼 사람의 몸에서 발견되었다는 학계의 보고는 없었다고 합니다

연가시나 기생파리의 직접적인 공격에 대한 걱정은 하지 않아도 될 듯 하네요...
